Okay, you say "it just takes to long to learn to play". Now what you don't realize is that learning can be as much fun as playing. Actually, learning can be more fun. If you can find someone that lives close to you and is interested in learning to play, then it becomes more fun. I remember when I lived in Port Arthur Texas ; there were a group of ladies that were learning to play. They would get together at one of the lady's house and have a real good time playing their guitars. You would be surprised of how much they would learn from each other.

The best part of it is the relaxation that comes with it. You get to see other people with the same interest that you have and you become very good friends. You have something in common. It the same kinds of thing that people do when they go bowling, or playing cards. The big difference is when you get through you will have accomplished something.

I still get together with some friends that play and we really enjoy each others company. We all know each other and we can joke or just about say anything to one or another without any one getting mad. If you miss a chord or note we just laugh and go on. We call it "jamming".

I've played for over 55 years and I've been on big stages and played with some big stars, but the most fun I've ever had was in these jam sessions. I'm 72 years old now and two weeks ago several friends and I got together with Veral Vance. Veral is 90 years old and still plays jazz guitar great. He has moved to the Dallas area and we don't see each other much anymore but we talk on the phone.

So do yourself a favor and learn to play music.
